Another Old Poem

first ankle deep,
then knees, then waist, then chest deep
feeling the pull and tug as water envelops and incases
sand beneath dissolving steadfast footings
turn back now, avoid the taste of suffocation

the movement is outward though
pre-dawn spray kissing and comforting
his surf whispers softly to go farther, deeper
you have been here before, you know me

out on the horizon, golden green reflections
never-ending seas promise a journey, a life
suddenly and simply, the body surges upward
freed from walking and standing and being alone
floating in gentle arms, so strong

no longer is moving relevant
waves carry you
deeper now
